Eating chocolate could reduce your risk of heart disease

Eating chocolate could reduce your risk of heart disease

This one is interesting, and to be honest, I want to start at the end, because I don't want you to read all the way to the end and then say WTF...

So, basically, there was a study published in the British Journal of Nutrition that appears to suggest that eating chocolate could reduce your risk of heart disease.
However, the paper also concludes that more research, observation and randomized studies are needed to fully understand the role chocolate may play in this claim.

There were more than 1000 people from all sorts of ages who took part in this study, and they DID find that those who ate 100g of chocolate a day (basically 1 chocolate bar) had reduced insulin resistance and improved liver enzymes - insulin sensitivity being a well-established risk factor to heart disease.

However, they also found that the people claiming to eat the chocolate 'were younger, more physically active and had higher levels of education' than those not eating chocolate on a daily basis. So it could be that these people just had healthier lifestyle behaviors, and being young, better health...

So, ill let you take what you want from this, and if you want to test this theory for your self with some of Melbourne's best artisan chocolates, feel free to check out our range
